Frequently Asked Questions about the RAD Shockmounts
The difference between the two shockmounts is how much weight each hoop can hold.
Everything about the mounts are exactly the same apart from the hoops.
The RAD-1 hoops are for lighter microphones, like the Sennheiser MKH50, 8050, Schoeps CCM/CMC1 L, etc...
The RAD-2 Hoops come with a reinforced brace over the top of the hoops to support the additional weight of larger mics or fur slip-on systems. The RAD-2 works perfectly with a Schoeps SuperCMIT, Sennheiser MKH60, Schoeps MiniCmit.
All our hoops are available to buy separately in our RAD Spare Parts collection. This allows you to build your perfect toolkit.
No. We would suggest buying the RAD-2 Shockmount and the 82D Hoops (Extra Firm). The 82D (Extra Firm) Hoops will hold the additional weight of the Sennheiser 416 and a fur slip-on system.
For the best performance, we suggest putting one of the 82D Hoops at the front of the suspension to support the microphone and then use the 72D (Standard) or 62D (Soft) hoop at the back of the microphone.
All parts on the RAD Shockmount can be broken down into pieces.
You can remove the XLR Holder by pulling back a tab at the bottom of the mount.
