What Does A Foam Windscreen Do?
Using a foam windscreen on your microphone will help eliminate wind noise. These are often used when sound recordists are on the move or outdoors, with low level winds.
Do I Need A Foam Cover On My Mic?
If you are indoors and your microphones are set up on stands, you might not need to use a foam cover.
However, if you plan on moving around or going outdoors, we would always suggest using a form of wind protection. This can be in the form of a foam for low wind levels, Nimbus windshield for medium wind levels and a windshield basket for high levels of wind.
What Are Mic Foams Made From?
All our foam windshields are made from hard wearing reticulated Polyester PUR. Our slip-on foam windshields use a black 60ppi Polyester PUR foam, for the ultimate in dialogue plosive protection. They are resistant to UV light, and therefore will last longer than polyether foams.
All our foams are UK made, CFC free & manufactured with non-toxic RoHs compliant materials
