Record Birds in Your Part of the World

Part 1 of this crowdsource event will run from
September 1st to November 30th, 2024.

Part 2 will run from March 1st to May 30th, 2025.

At the end of each part, all participants will receive a copy of the exclusive library. These libraries will never be offered for sale, so only crowdsource participants will receive them.

Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of PART 2 to allow for all participants time to capture the various migrating birds in their regions. More about how prizes will be awarded can be found in the particpation details link below.

Recording Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) recordings of either an ISOLATED BIRD or GROUPED BIRD AMBIENCE
  • An ISOLATED BIRD recording can be an individual bird or a group of the same species. Must not include multiple species. Required length of recording is 45 secs - 5 mins.
  • A GROUPED AMBIENCE recording can be anything from general activity to a dawn/dusk chorus. These recordings can include more than one species. Required length of recording is 5 - 15 minutes.
  • Recordings MUST NOT contain any traffic, industrial, ocean or human presence sounds.
  • Please EDIT/MINIMIZE all wind, foliage and insects out of the recordings
  • Metadata Must Contain: Your Location, Bird Family COMMON NAME, Bird Species COMMON NAME, Bird Call Type (If Applicable)
  • COMMON Family And Species Names Can Be Found At https://birdsoftheworld.org/
